JNB Foundation remembers Buchanan Gov’t Hospital, donates two life-saving machines

The President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Foundation, Saturday, January 25, made its promise true to senior staff and nurses at the Buchanan Government Hospital in Buchanan, Grand Bassa, presenting two incubators, plus additional needed medical supplies to the healthcare center gutted by fire in March 2022.

Deputy JNB Foundation Executive Director Mr. Henry Saah Flanpor made the presentation on behalf of his boss and institution and expressed deep regrets over the hospital’s fire incident, a situation he maintained resulted in “lots of losses” to the healthcare center thus prompting the demand or needs for medical donations to this institute.

He went on to recount President Boakai Government’s commitment to helping improve healthcare systems throughout Liberia, pointing out its Six Pillars ARREST Agenda plus works they’ve accomplished. Although agriculture, education and sanitation are high on the agenda he said the JNB-F’s intervention has been focused largely on the health sector, saying the citizens would be deprived of “happiness” without good health.

Mr. Flanpor said his foundation, through its Dubai partners, secured 31 of these life-saving machines from Dubai, UAE, and have since distributed the rest to local hospitals in Liberia in hope that their usage could cut down the death rate of babies born prematurely.

Services that incubators render goes beyond just helping “premature” infants survive, he said. Rather, they’ve proven to be highly helpful at saving the lives of babies born with “complications,” according to him.

He then cited as an example his own current boss, Hon. Jackson K. George whom he said had always told of how his survival at birth depended heavily on such life-saving equipment, and to which Mr. George says he remains grateful.

Flanpor thanked the hospital’s chief medical officer Dr. Jude G. Whesseh and his staff for serving the medical needs of the county and its people.

He extended gratitude to Hon. Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence whose “Nyonblee Care Foundation” he explained, remains a good-working JNB Foundation partner. Madam Lawrence wasn’t in attendance. Accompanying Mr. Flanpor included Medical Director Dr. Tamba Cembianor and James Kokulo Fasuekoi, Communications Director, both of JNB Foundation.

Dr. Jude G. Whesseh accepted the gifts and in turn presented them to Dr. Eric G. Gbanlon, Buchanan Government Hospital Medical Director.
